Significance: Pierre - The Third Brother¶
Important Discovery
With Pierre, we have now identified the third son of the Cabos family!
The Sons of Laurens Cabos and Marie Rey¶
| Name | Birth Year | Age Relative to Etienne | Fate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jean Cabos | before 1737? | Older? | †1796 Caussade |
| Etienne Cabos | 1737 | - | †1808 Berlin |
| Pierre Cabos | 1740 | 3 years younger | ? |
Was Pierre the "Executed Brother"?¶
The Bulletin from 1907 speaks of Etienne's "older brother" who was executed.
Pierre CANNOT have been the one, because: - Pierre was born in 1740 - Etienne was born in 1737 - Pierre was therefore 3 years younger than Etienne, not older
Consequence for the Research¶
If the 1907 Bulletin is correct: - Jean (†1796) was not the one - he died peacefully - Pierre was not the one - he was younger, not older - There must have been a fourth brother who was born before 1737!
Open Questions
- What became of Pierre? Are there further documents about his life?
- Fourth brother? Was there an older brother who was born before Etienne (1737)?
- Godparents Delpech: Who were Jean and Jeanne Delpech? Relatives?
The Delpech Family¶
The godparents Jean Delpech and Jeanne Delpech are interesting: - The name Delpech also appears in other entries on the same church register page - Possibly a related family or close friends of the Cabos family - The name suggests an established family among the bourgeoisie of Caussade
